With miles of trails to explore, the Catskills are home to endless possibilities for a wind-in-your-face, mud-on-your-tires adventure.

Looking for a Catskills mountain biking route? Try a loop around one of the region’s reservoirs and enjoy varied terrain that offers steep climbs followed by rewarding descents, and unique features like touring through some of the Catskills’ covered bridges. The Pepacton Reservoir Loop offers a 50-mile challenging ride, as do numerous routes around the Ashokan Reservoir. Find views of Kaaterskill Falls, one of the most beautiful waterfalls in New York, on the Kaaterskill Rail Trail—the trail is located off Route 23A. Kaaterskill Falls can also be explored on foot—it’s even considered one of the best hikes in the Catskills.

Plattekill Mountain

With trails for all abilities of mountain bikers, you’ll definitely want to add this to your list of must-visits in Delaware County. After the snow melts the ski trails become a mountain biking hot spot. Rental gear and guided tours are available.

Kingston Point BMX

Take your downhill skills onto the track for some BMX racing in Ulster County. With a course that offers multiple jumps, and berms to fly around. It is the perfect practice ground and beginner spot if you are just getting into the world of mountain biking.

Pearson Park on Walnut Mountain

Located on the second tallest mountain in Sullivan County, Pearson Park not only offers stunning views but incredible single track riding. Wooden berms offer advanced riders a unique experience while gradual curves allow beginners to improve their skills.

Windham Mountain Bike Park

Located in Greene County and home to the UCI World Cup, this park attracts some of the best riders in the Northeast. Fast, rugged, and gnarly terrain will have your heart pumping and legs burning the entire way down. After all, you’re looking for an adrenaline overload, right?

The Huckleberry Trail

Located in Greene County, the Huckleberry Trail follows along the former railroad track of the Ulster & Delaware and Canajoharie & Catskill lines. These lines, which were once used to transport New York City vacationers to the infamous Catskills resorts, now provide riders with a fun place to explore.

Parksville Rail Trail

Enjoy the incredible views of the surrounding landscape, filled with woods, a stream, and a waterfall along the Parksville Rail Trail—mountain biking in the Catskills at its finest! The trail follows the former New York, Ontario & Western Railway’s mainline.

Catskill Scenic Trail

Although some of the Catskill Scenic Trail runs outside of the Catskills region, much of the winding path is located in Delaware County. Take a break along your route at the West Branch of the Delaware River, which can be seen from many points along the trail. Ride through the beautiful countryside as you follow the path that was once part of the Delaware & Ulster Railroad.

Lippman Park

Ulster County’s Lippman Park includes multiple interconnected trails for all-day exploring. With different levels of difficulty, the Park offers something for beginners to advanced riders, and everyone in between.
